Damn these measly computers. Mine crashed.
Damn the fools who don’t back up their prized data. I didn’t.
So the site has been down for a while and it will take a while to get everything back up. No, it won’t be the same. No it won’t be better. It will just be different. If you visit the site frequently, you will have noticed that the website has been missing. My computer crashed mid November. I groveled till my funders purchased me a new one. This baby is brandy new Dell (new lab standard). Have I mentioned I like Monarch Computers better? This thing is brandy new Ubuntu (have I mentioned I like Gentoo?) It now has a half terabyte SATA hard drive, 2GB Ram, 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and a nice big.
So what could be so wrong? Well during the install, my old drive got zapped (or the partition table anyway). All my prized files for the website got fried including those I host for other people (sorry Tim, Lisa, and Gabe). My 5000+ picture gallery was fried too. So while waiting to get my old drive back (I still have faith it can be done), I decided to just install things I could and get back.
So here I am. More to follow as pictures come on line. Then my other links (wiki, songs, etc.). Blah. Oh, and I also have work to do. Those same collaborators that funded this computer need to see their money well spent. So I am off to predict functional biosensors…ttfn (ta ta for now).
