February 2007

So, I have officially adopted Coppermine as my new photo presentation software. It has all the features of Gallery2, with a better admin interface. It is also less cluttered with every option under the sun I don’t use. I currently have all of my 2007 photos up, and will shortly get the pictures I’ve taken since the old server crashed. Getting all the pictures that were up will take some time though, so please be patient (if you even care :) .

With that said, I wanted to give you a teaser of what you will find. Over Christmas, Maddy got a trampoline from Santa. Basically, it zaps her energy to a parent manageable level while giving her exercise and much fun. It is set up in the backyard with her old slide providing a way in so she is free to go out whenever she wants. This picture shows where all her energy goes…into static electricity…

Birthdays are usually bittersweet.  On the one hand, we are getting older while on the other hand we have made it another year.  I typically like birthdays, and the start of a new decade is going to bring with it some major changes.  I WILL GET OUT OF SCHOOL this decade.  I plan to have another kid this decade.  I will probably move sometime this decade.  I will start making “real” money in the “real” world as my wife puts it :)

I turned 30 last week.  My dad turned 60 last month.  We had a party in Indy to celebrate the fact I was half as old as him (only time in our lives until I invent time travel) and I’ll post pictures soon.  Likewise, here in Austin, my wonderful wife and a number of friends surprised me for my 30th.  While I knew a party was being planned, she led me to believe it would be Saturday.  When I got home from having a few drinks with some friends Friday, my house was full of people.  Maddy ran up and said SURPRISE!  I was completely caught off guard and blown away.  It was a blast though.
On another note, I’ve installed Coppermine for my photos.  I had some issues with uploads using Gallery2.  We’ll see how this works out.  Be sure to check them out in the coming months.

Cheers to a new year, Happy Chinese New Year this weekend!
