Another year has gone by and it’s time for the boiling, painting, and hiding of eggs, candy and bunnies.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!!

This was a special year for the Hall family as we were blessed with good weather (though a little chilly), and good health by all.  It was also a good time to reflect on how much Madison has grown.  Last year, I remember that she was just beginning to grasp the whole concept of the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, and Easter baskets.  This year, we were awakened at 8:30 in the morning to shouts of “It’s Easter…The Easter Bunny’s been here!!” and “The Easter Bunny Came!!  The Easter Bunny Came!!!”  I don’t know who was more fit-to -be-tied; Madison in her excitement, or Soco in Madison’s excitement!

Needless to say, Brad and I dragged ourselves out of bed and managed some form of excitement (though it grew after our first and second cups of coffee!)  This year the Easter Bunny had tried something a little different.  It turns out both The Bunny and I have subscriptions to Family Fun magazine. ;)

Madison was required to go on a Scavenger Hunt in order to find her Easter Basket.  She was given 1 of 6 large plastic eggs; inside each was a clue to the next with the 6th egg revealing the location of her basket.  Initially Brad and I were a little skeptical as to how much fun this type of exercise would be for a 4 year old.  Much to our surprise – Madison had a BLAST!!!

With each new clue she grew more and more excited and more determined to figure out the clue for herself.  She went from the living-room where the first egg was given, to the laundry ‘where Daddy folds the clothes’, her bathroom ‘where she brushes her teeth’, the kitchen ‘where Mommy puts the dirty dishes’, the dog’s dish ‘where Soco goes to drink’, to the pantry ‘where the cereal is kept’, and finally to ‘the box that is also a seat’ leading her back to the living-room.  I looked at Brad later and said – ‘this is one time I truly wish we had a video camera’, to be able to show everyone the sparkle in her eyes, and the smile on her face – it was truly a priceless experience.

Decorating the eggs the night before was also a blast.  Madison found it very discusting when Mommy ‘blew out’ a few raw eggs though.  Though they did make very neat ‘papier mache’ type eggs.  A couple of our favorites were the glue/glitter combo, the ‘fish’, and the ’sleeping sickness protist’ (guess who made this one!?!?!).

Here’s to a Happy Spring for all!!
