New pictures are up on the gallery including those from Easter and this past weekend in the park. Lizzy has been steadily growing and Alisha went back to work today (with Lizzy). Daycare starts tomorrow, but Lizzy will probably only go half time for the next couple weeks. Lizzy is not only growing physically but also developmentally. She can hold her head up for the most part and is also focusing on things much better. Her sleep pattern is getting better too, as this weekend was the first time she slept 8 hours overnight and she did this both Saturday night and Sunday night to the relief of happy parents.
As far as the weekend goes, it was a busy one. Alisha’s cousin Josh was in town last week and we all went to a birthday party/going away party for two of my co-workers. One turned 30, the other is leaving for Yale on Tuesday.
Saturday Maddy and I went hiking in the green belt. It was a nice hike from Barton Springs about 1.5 miles into the green belt. Of course both the party and hiking I forgot my camera…I need to stop doing this. On Sunday I was determined to get new photos of Lizzy, so I did take the camera to Emma Long Park where we attended a first birthday party for the daughter of one of Alisha’s coworkers. Sunday evening we went over to Macklin’s house for a 7 course meal prepared by her boyfriend, a local chef in Austin. It was fine dining at its best. While I like fish swimming in my aquarium at home, I don’t enjoy them as edible food. But Tim’s black cod with baby leeks was scrumptious!

Daughter smiles can make a dad’s heart melt. Both Alisha and Madison have seen Lizzy smile. But as much as I’ve tried, she would only look up at me and stare. Yesterday I finally had the pleasure of experiencing my first baby smile…or she had gas. But I believe it was a true smile. And it happened again today.

Once upon a time, a little girl named Alisha hid behind a chair with a pair of scissors and gave herself a wonderful and stylish new ‘do’.
In the great tradition of watching your child relive a memory of something that you did when you were a kid (and are trying desperately to forget), Maddy was over at a friends house today and decided that her bangs were just a bit longer than she really liked. Therefore, she along with her friend Madison Peck decided that getting a pair of scissors and cutting their bangs just to their liking would be a great idea.
Luckily, unlike her mother, she stuck with just her bangs and managed to keep them fairly straight. Also, unlike most children when they cut their hair, she managed to actually leave herself some bangs and not cut her hair all the way to the scalp. The picture below should give an accurate description of her latest ‘do’. The best thing that Brad and I can say now is “at least it’ll grow back!!”. I hope that you all enjoy the great laugh that you’ll get from this and are having a wonderful day!!
